    Dear Experts

When we are trying to index turret, it indexes just a little and stops with operator message number 2047 - turret clamp switch alarm or turret control unit alarm

    Please find below our observations/actions

    1. Output for unclamp gets ON & also output for either CW/CCW rotation also get ON, but it just indexes a little and message 2047 appears
    2. Hydraulic system pressure is ok ie 50 bars
    3. 110V appears to socket over CW/CCW solenoid
    4. With this message number 2047, alarm output A5.6 gets 1 but we are unable to locate A5.6 in ladder - please let us know on how to correlate this A with corresponding R or D bit to further understand reason for message 2047
    5. Only once or twice in last 8 hours, we found it got unclamped, indexed and clamped properly - during that 8421 BCD code rightly matched with station number of turret , also strobe signal was 1
    6. Found little oil inside gland of encoder - cleaned same with pneumatic air
    7. Turret encoder cable continuity checked and found alright

Request your advice for the above - do u suspect turret encoder to be malfunctioning or some issue related with solenoid valve or contamination inside hydraulic manifold on which valves are mounted

Yesterday CW/CCW valve was replaced - we will check and ensure mounting is alright in line with ports on manifold

This , we think , is 10 station turret, we have spare encoder with 12 station hence unable to replace encoder

Please explain procedure for strobe setting - what we understand is turret should be at station 1 in clamped condition, in that condition strobe signal should be 1 also 8421 BCD code should read 1, if not encoder with gear to be taken out, slightly gear should be rotated to get strobe signal as 1 and encoder should be mounted back maintaining strobe signal as - is it correct please ?

    Dear Experts
We have taken out direction control valve for CW/CCW rotation, fitted back
Now it is indexing but not stopping at the right angle ie stopping at say about 15 to 20 degree less than required angle/postion hence strobe signal not coming
    Please advice

    Few more observations please
    1. Now after unclamp, turret indexes by about 3 degrees and stops
    2. When we rotate disc by hand, shaft having clamp proximity switch also rotates, hence we feel drive mechanism inside turret assembly is intact
    3. Hydraulic system pressure is 40 bars
    4. Manually we pushed spool of unclamp solenoid valve and then pushed spool of CW rotation, it rotate few degrees and stops, moreover when we press spools for unclamp, CW/CCW rotation, we dont feel any pressure rather it is very smooth ie spool going inside smooth - we doubt this is due to inadequate pressure to Hydraulic Manifold
    5. We have decoupled hydro motor and disassembled to see all 8 small pistons along with gear to be fine

    Please advice

    hydraulic Motor Turrets:
Use a either a proximity switch to confirm motion on the 2-piece curvic, or a hydraulic pressure switch to see the potential for motion (pressure)
What is the serial number of the machine?

If the Hydro-motorized turret (2-piece curvic) has been dis-assembled on either end of the shaft (or damaged) or if the encoder has been even slightly mis-aligned, it can cause issues.
