Default EZ-Guide i or conventional programming

We just purchase few new Doosan turning machines to replace old ones. We are programming manually our machines, line by line.
I have found that skilled user will make faster & better program than CAM (we have GIBBS) but what about this new
Manual Guide...Is anyone using it or is it only for schools ?
Should i seriously start to use it ?
Just want to have some discussion about this topic, any opinion would be fine.

Thanks and keep pressing that green one

I was trained to use it when we purchased our lynx 220, however I find it clunky and not that user friendly, I much prefer using a cam software.

We have an EZ Guide- i (Manual Guide) programming manual , this might make it easier for you to decide if its worth using.

    Please see the PDF attachment.

EZ Guide i can be quite fast and is great for many things. I used to teach the classes on it and I could get it to do about 90% of the parts that came across my desk.
That said, Gibbs is FAST and VERY powerful, as it was my CAM system while at Doosan.

Nice thing about EZ Guide, is that's on the machine. Gibbs can be EXPENSIVE.
If you want the training manuals, let me know - I wrote them.

    This manual was good,thanks.
If you have some training manuals that would be great. We have problem here in northpole that Doosan reseller just installs machine and after that you are on you own with software.
So this help from forum is very, very good.

    hi

I think it is very good and easy to use .
Most programs are the same with only al little diferents in shape/size .roughing/finishing and treading , grooving parting .
and that is very easy to draw with arows , You can also draw and it makes iso code of the drawing .
That what you program repeatetly you can put in templates ,like start program or tool change and end of program.
The graphic's i dont like but it is enough to see the movements and the product.
The program it creates is not always the fastest ,because it stops shortly to read/proces the cycles , so if you do mass production
normal programming is mayby al little faster.

some cycli like grooving sometimes give errors but that is nose radius related .

i do milling with ezcam not with manual guide ,but for turning normal x/z and live tooling it works very very well

    greetings bertus

Can someone show an example of the format of arbitrary part ,blank, and cycle G1120 that is used when turning from castings to save air cutting. I've figured out using from bar but don't know the format order to cut from a shaped blank.
    Thanks,
    Keith.

When using castings, you can define your part in the part menu as you wish - but when using the casting cycles make sure to be light on your DOC otherwise it buries the Z axis.

@DouglasR thanks I've since figured it out, instead of closing part with the 2 lines option 1 or 2 you just draw the shape.
