Question Puma 10HC Parts ID and sourcing

I've been working to diagnose an intermittent chatter that our operator has been mentioning.

    PUMA 10HC
    Ser # PH100157

Upon inspection I found there to be a lot of play in the z-axis slide's y direction (up/down). I removed the wipers, hoping to find a gib screw to adjust the clearance but the only adjustment is for the z direction.

Looking more closely, I found the problem. The plastic friction material that the turret rides on in the carriage has been pushed out the top of the spindle side of the slide, see picture.

I'm at a loss as to what to call this stuff and where to get it. I do have a parts manual but the drawings are not very clear.

Anyone who knows what to call this stuff and/or where to get it would be appreciated

    TURCITE!

That's the name I was looking for.
Now to find a place that will sell me a small amount and some glue.

Next task is to figure out how to lift the cross slide out of the machine without screwing up, the ballscrew has me a bit worried and the parts book drawings aren't much help there.

    Thanks,
I did send them a RFQ and they replied promptly. Also they were , by quite a bit, the most reasonably priced source of turcite and glue I found.

I hope you know that scraping turcite is a skill. It needs to be hand scraped to allow the surfaces perfect alignment.

Just saying...If you don't know that it is called Turcite, it is highly unlikely that you have the skills needed to install it correctly.

I am not trying to insult, just to inform.

No worries, you have a valid point.

I do have a little experience scraping in an old manual mill so I'm willing to give this a try, do some reading and learn by doing.
The lathe is unusable at this point so I don't think I can make the machine all that much worse.

I would suggest hiring someone skilled in the process and learning the finer points from them.

It's like learning martial arts...I can tell you what a reverse punch is, I can show you what a reverse punch is.

Done wrong, you have a high likelihood of breaking your hand...

See attached documents for the basic info.

Thanks dhardt for the guide and info.

After much cleaning, measuring, cutting, measuring, scaping, measuring, blueing, measuring, and more measuring I manged to get the turcite installed and the lathe trammed back in.
Accuracy is as good or better than before the problem started and tool offsets are back to reasonable numbers.
