Default Lynx 200 Lathe - Fanuc 21-T, how to machine lock??

The machine panel has the machine lock light, but it doesn't have a switch to enable the machine lock, any idea how to lock the machine so I can test programs?
Also how do I use the probe on this machine? Obviously it's got the probe up/down and also the tool measure button, I'm just not sure whether I'm meant to touch the probe with the tool and then press tool measure (which I don't think because that's no different than touching the face of the job and pressing measure)??
    Thanks
    Darc

To lock the machine - Enter M17 in MDI mode and hit cycle start.

To unlock the machine - Enter M18 in MDI mode and hit cycle start.

When you touch the tool onto the probe, the offset is automatically set into the registry for you. The measure button is used when setting your Work Offsets.

Beautiful, it worked a treat. Thanks.
Also on another note how do I copy the program, in the manual it mentions to use the [EX-EDT], this machine doesn't have the soft key to suit, our vmc and other lathe has this button, do I need to enable this in the settings?
I just noticed the manual is for a Fanuc Series 21-TB & Fanuc Series 210-TB. Our machine is a Fanuc Series 21-T.
    Thanks.

    Hi Green Button,
I changed it to write enable and then searched for 9936, it then brought up the first line of parameters 0000.
If I have the correct parameter should the 9936 show up where I used the BOLD font? If so the numbers don't go that high.
I've attached all the available screens in the settings page.
Any idea which one I change to get the extended edit?

Screen looks very familiar. I think that you havent found parameter section.
Try to press "SYSTEM" on keyboard then <PARAM> on soft keys.
    Should be found there.

    Yep, I'm an idiot..............
I fount the screen you mentioned, I changed it to write enable (see pic), then I went to the SETTING, PARAMETER screen, is the field I've got highlighted the one I need to change, if so, it won't change when I press [1 ON], or 1 then INPUT.
I must be doing something wrong?? Any ideas??

There must be some other parameter which enables this i think....
When "parameter write enable" was on and you try to change bit...are you sure that machine was in MDi mode & protect key open...if so, there must be another parameter (dont know it yet)

I am having the same problem with a '99 Takisawa EX-108 w/ Fanuc 21i-T (model A). The [EX-EDT] soft key is not available. Is there a parameter that needs to be changed for the [EX-EDT] soft key to appear?

    Thank You in advance!

if i remember correctly the 9000 series parameters are the option parameters and you cannot change them by just turning the PWE on

If you can ENVISION it I can make it

Hi, wow, that was 11 years ago, how time flies, the second post gave me the answer I needed.

To lock the machine - Enter M17 in MDI mode and hit cycle start.
To unlock the machine - Enter M18 in MDI mode and hit cycle start.

    Good luck with your machine!

You will find instruction for graph elsewhere from
    this forum.

    Good luck with your machine!
Time really flies,i have sold that machine but
still remember it for a handy one.
Now,when you can lock your machine
you should also start to use graph/ simulation
    function.
    Do program-lock machine- simulate prg
    Crashes will dramatically drop.

We did use the graph simulation, but we got rid of that machine many years ago, it was a handy machine though.
