I have an old 8' x 4' CNC router fitted with DC analogue servos (Norwin Amps) . We have replaced the duff controller with a CS labs Ethernet controller for servo drives. Impressively it worked first time! and is all set up with mach3 and jogs along really well on all axis (I was impressed!) However the PID tuning with the CS-lab software has been less than straight forward. We tried auto-tuning first but whatever setting we use it just turns the ball screw really slowly back and forth (in Mach it goes at 20m / min) it will set the values but will give wildly different values on each axis kP= 600 on one axis kP= 30000 on the other! . We moved on to manual tuning where it asks you to increase kP until axis starts to oscillate again we increased it up to 60000 and no sign of much happening. I have never done servo tuning so I am guessing I have missed something? Any advise would be welcome. Tom
