Default Running an RC ESC with PWM from a breakout board

I am using an AKZ250 breakout board for my desktop router. Now I want to pull the VFD and water cooled spindle off and put a big RC ESC and a suitable motor to the machine. My question is, can I directly connect the PWM output (spindle output) of AKZ250 to the ESC as throttle signal, will it work? Or do I somehow convert the PWM to somewhat the ESC needs?

ESC is a Phoenix EDGE 130 amp.

    Thanks
