The bottom button apparently cuts the operator's finger off.

I think MFI is the MDI manual data input. (Manual File Input)?
The OT is overtravel overide, to allow move off of OT switch..?
The I/O is could be display ladder.
    Just a guess.

Is it really wise to be using the machine without knowing a bit more about it? It could get expensive and/or painful if you press the wrong button. How about telling us what make of machine and what controller?

Well, that is why I am asking what the buttons do! They dont appear to be related to the safe operation of the machine but still nice to know.

The controller is a Mazak made controller found only on this exact Mazak Impulse 30 machine.

Interesting, I will have a look at the serial input when this button is pressed. Maybe it could be used for drip feeding or keyboard entry into the mdi? It has a whole screen for program reading and punching to tape.

So, i stumbled across this manual for my controller by accident today. So stoked!!! https://www.cnczone.com/forums/machi...t-imac-tp.html

Anyways, it appears the functions of some of these buttons are (as correctly spotted by some people)
    - Over Travel Release
    - Auxiliary Key (MF1)
    - Still don't know what the other one does. Maybe related to tape or disk IO.
