The 5Lpt is not a breakout board. It's a motherboard, that you plug your breakout board into.
The UB1 has lot of features.
0-10v speed control
Relays
Differential step/direct
Analog I/O
Charge pump.
24V I/O
What is up my dudes.
I'm building a milling machine were I would like to try out the UC300ETH. However I'm confused to which BOB I should use. The official -5LPT got a few ICs on it, but i don't know what it really does or what it is good for. The UB1 is crammed, but it doesn't seem to do much more than light some leds, convert some dc voltages and optically isolate. Which board should i use and why?

So the 5LPT alone isn't enough to make it a complete controller? In that case i would suppose the UB1 to be the only proper BOB...
If you plan on buying a UB-1, don't buy a 5LPT, as it's not required with the UB-1.

Ok, can the UC300eth and UB-1 combo be used for simulations 5 axis in UCCNC?
