    Default Opt Lasers

    Dear members,

I am really a beginner in the field of laser and would like to ask your help for the following.
First of all I would like to use my existing Stepcraft D840 version 2 to use my laser that I have in mind.
My goal of using a laser is engraving and especially engraving photos on materials as a hobby.
I have found this a special kit exactly for my Stepcraft.

And that replaced the laser for this model.

Because this new laser has a different lens so that I can get a much smaller dot with the 6 watt laser.

I know it is not a cheap laser but I am not an electrician and do not have much faith in chinese aliexpress lasers.
Now I also came across their Facebook page and they now have a 15% discount so that is also advantageous for me on a large amount.

Now I would love to hear your opinion and maybe get to know people who have these too and I hope to learn more from the professionals here.

    Sincerely

    Hi,
i invested on an Opt Lasers PLH3D-6W-XF and I really can not say a bad thing about it. The quality and feel of the module is totally unique in the price range even for a hobbyist.
The little more you pay for it compared to an "ali-laser", you get excellent product including very fast and helpful customer service. They answer fast to your questions regarding installations etc.
I wouldn't even be surprised if they could make a comparison engraving between u-spot and XF model on request so that you could decide which one suits you best.

If you like to cut through materials as well like 4mm ply or poplar, i would recommend the PLH3D-6W-XF model and if you like more quiet version, then take the water cooled version. I have no knowledge of water cooling but its maybe a little more maintenance free in that
way that you don't need to clean the heat-sink holes from smoke residue !? (not sure but i suspect it does not have similar heatsink compared to the fan models.

I don't know what resolution the stepcraft has mechanically but you should also check that can the machine provide the accuracy compared to the laser. In many belt driven CNC's the resolution is +0.1mm and then then eg. the XF or hobby level laser is ok as its spot dimension is 0.1mm x +0,1 depending on focal length which btw you can adjust from 20mm up to 120mm at least with the XF model. But by adjusting the focal length to the lowest, allows for a thinner spot.

Also the plh3d laser gives you the ability to mount in instead of your router. Also the magnetic quick mount is a very handy you you don't want to swap router vs laser. Just pull laser from magnetic connector (THE MAGNET IS REALLY STRONG SO WONT ALLOW VIBRATIONS EVEN AT HIGH SPEEDS) and put a cap on the connector and continue using your router.

    i would rate Opt Lasers PLH3D-6W-XF -> 5/5 stars.
