    Default CNC cutting air

I am new to CNC and I apologize for the basic question I am about to ask.

I have an i-carver model 40-915X and I am using Fusion 360. having problems with the machine cutting "air". if I select multiple depths and set the bottom height offset to negative number
(below the stock) it will cut the material no problem. but cannot CNC anything that is not a complete cut. like trace or engrave. if I try to trace or engrave, the machine goes through the process
but never touches the stock, just cutting air. anybody seen this before? any adivse would be appreciated.

thanks in advance for any help.

In the passes menu, set the 'Axial Offset' to a negative value.
