    Default 5x10 Multicam 3000 vs 5x10 Laguna Shopsmart 3

We have been in the woodworking industry for years and have always had all of our cut parts outsourced by local CNC shops. We have gotten busy enough that it does not make sense any longer to outsource and will bringing it in house.
Looking into a Multicam 3204-R-H 13.4 HSD Spindle vs Laguna Shopsmart 3 12HP HSD Spindle. We have a customer base that is looking for us to become up and running to cut cabinetry parts for them as well.
The software we will be working out of will be VCarve Pro and Mosaik.

Thank you in advance for any help and advice.

Default Re: 5x10 Multicam 3000 vs 5x10 Laguna Shopsmart 3

I have prior experience with the Laguna Smartshop 2 and am currently and operating a Multicam Apex3R which is a new one for me. So far I much prefer the Lagunas stationary operating/control module with touch screen. It is much more user friendly and easy to operate in my opinion. Versus the small handheld control of the Multicam with its pictures for buttons which are quite subjective. The Laguna also has an automatic tool touch-off/calibration which I really liked, this Multicam I have to manually do this. The Laguna also bed/table also has pneumatic pop up positioning pins which come in handy for aligning/positioning either your material or a new spoilboard. I do however like how much quieter the Multicam is when picking up/changing tools, the Laguna seemed to be extremely load. Suction seems to be much better on the Multicam however this would differ depending on the vacuum pump being used and I dont recall the HP on the one we had for the Laguna. I also used Vectric VCarve and I absolutely loved it. Its very user friendly, you can draw up whatever you can think of, you can preview the toolpath, add/edit tabs, really fine tune and customize depths, feed/speeds, and preview your model/file before it cuts on an interactive 3D view. I highly recommend it, and its very affordable. A great go to program/software. I know your looking at machines that appear to be the next step/model up but hopefully this helps.
