Does anyone still own the infamous CNC Mogul cnc router?
hi
i know cnc mogul made a pretty bad product and have many complaints hence went out of business only after 1 yr but does anyone still have one of these crappy machines currently?
i have one that i got used and it runs like crap
the stepper motors are odd ..;if i run continuous mode and jog a
few feet you can see the axis going slower and faster..herky jerky
motion...
not sure if its bad driver board or what...even with machine not
connected you can see the stepper motors dont run smooth...they go
faster and slower..very odd...the z seems a bit smoother but the x and
y are horrible...i would say maybe a setting issue however a setting
should not cause the motor to run fast then slow during a step
move...the electronics are crap on this machine so that could be the
issue. or just worn out stepper motors..it does have a crappy
underpowered ps also so...lots of factors involved.
do anyone have the stepper motor settings for mach3
i doubt that has anyhting to do with the issue but good settings would be a good start.

I would be surprised if its a stepper motor issue.I would begin by looking for mechanical alignment problems, such as are the tracks truly parallel.I don't own one and from looking at a few online images it does seem to be a design that lacks rigidity. The folded brackets supporting the extrusions seem to be devoid of any bracing and the mechanism for moving the gantry isn't visible. Are there leadscrews or belts moving the gantry?

Its rack and pinion all axis..and uses cheap plastic rack gears....but thats not the issue...with motor dosconnected from the r and p the x y z motors runs and sounds like crap...the motors dont rotate at consistent speed during a step move even while not connected to machine...im thinking its stepper driver / controller issue...its a fact the model is a pos design but im just trying to resolve the stepper motor inconsistent rotating problem

also another design issue is that when machine is off the z axis (with router mounted) just drops and smashes on the bed...there is nothing to keep it up due to horrible design....the only way to keep z axis from dropping is to have the machine on which makes no sense......i would like to hear from anyone who still owns one of these
