Solar Jean on Ebay.
My spindles came from Ratt Motor, and were the cheapest I could find at the time. They work fine, but the spindle taper grinding is a bit rough. But they don't appear to have any runout.
Building a CNC router and trying to save money where I can so here is the question.
Who have you had good luck dealing with when buying a Chinese spindle?
Who to avoid?
Thanks

The spindle/seller Ger21 mentioned (Rattmotor) as well as a few others are also available on Amazon. Since you are in the US and especially if you are a prime member you may save a bit, maybe not, but the return process on Amazon is likely better if you have an issue on delivery than dealing with an ebay seller. I bought a 2.2kw air cooled from an ebay seller and have had no issues, but I'd suggest insuring it was a Huanyang and not one of the clones floating around which I've heard some have reported quality issues.
Looking at these 220v chinese 2.2kw spindles(Rattmotor included) they all draw between 8 amps and 8.5 amps. Maybe my math is not right but 2.2kw/220v=10A so what gives? These look like 1.8kw motors to me.
Your comments please.
If you want a 10 amp motor, you can pay $1500 for one. When you pay $150, you take what they give you.
Air cooled tend to be slightly less powerful than water cooled, but it really depends on the specific spindle you are getting.
Square bodied spindles tend top have slightly higher current ratings too.
Here's one that's 9.7 amps.

I only have single phase 220v available
do the "2.2kw" motors from rattmotor perform well?
I haven't cut anything, but I've run the two I have on my bench for quite a while, and they seem fine.
The reason I bought them was because they were the cheapest I could find at the time.

No, I got the VFD from Solar Jean. It's a Huanyang.

I would rather buy from an Amazon seller as there is way easier returns.
Is this the VFD you bought?

They don't list the model, but it should be. Mine doesn't have the knob, though.

Not trying to hijack this post but if your looking for a spindle I have two that I am about to list for sale.
GMT Air Cooled CNC Spindle 3.7 kW 220V / 380V 18000 RPM S | Air Cooled Spindles
I also have the VFD
Delta VFD-M / Inverter 3.7kW 220V 3 Phase | VFD / Inverters
These were extras we purchased a last summer. One is still in the box, the other we opened to see how to do the wiring and no longer have the box. They have never been used or wired up. I have since purchased lager machines and don't have a need for these.
I have all the receipts and am not looking to get all my money back, just trying to make a deal that makes sense for me and save someone else some money.
If your interested please feel free to call or email me.

If I want to run a 2.2kw 220v spindle would it make any sense to oversize the VFD with a 3kw rated VFD? It is only $14 more than the 2.2kw VFD.
AND, can I run either on 220v single phase input?

Thanks
If I had to guess, I would think that 99% of people using 2.2Kw Chinese spindles are using 2.2Kw VFD's.
It wouldn't hurt to go bigger, but I don't think it's necessary.
