Gear Reduced System

I'm trying to build my first CNC router machine, and I need some help.

1 - Why should a reduced system be used for motors?
2 - The reducer system can be removed if the motors are closed loop?


Machine Information
Dimensions:
X: 3500 mm
Y: 2200 mm
Z: 25 mm

Motors:
XX, Y and Z: Closed loop system（hybrid easy servo system）NEMA 34, 12 N.M / Step angle 1.8 / Current 6.0 / Encoder resolution 1000ppr .

Gear Rack : 1.5 MOD
Gear Pinion: 24T ....
