Hi all, Just recently our Mazak 200b vmc had a gearbox bearing failure, the machine was subsequently dismantled and gearbox refurbished. upon rebuilding the machine we ran the spindle up in steps everything grand there until we attempted to do an M19 to home the spindle, on this issue it timed out.
So we inspected the resolver (encoder) located on top of the motor where there was damage evident even though there was clearance evident, now we have been given 3 different options which are
1. Brand new motor needed as encoder is timed at the factory!!!
2. Send motor to manufacturer where they will fit and time new encoder!!!!
3. Buy new encoder and re-fit as timing gear has not been moved!!!
Now the million dollar question is which one is correct (if any) anybodies help would be much appreciated...
