Aluminium bar stock for swiss machining - material bending issues
Hello,
We have a part out of 6061-T6 aluminium, which requires Swiss machining in guide-bush mode. We got several lots of material from India, but so far the material lots have problems like bending or BHN (hardness) less than 85 (min. required value).
All of this is resulting into either too much vibration or not a matte finish of the final part, despite taking finishing cuts.
I need help with recommendations on quality aluminium material suppliers from Asia or Europe, if anyone has any idea about the same.
Our required size is 0.748" OD (19 mm). What kind of OD tolerance should we ask for our suppliers for Swiss turning? We usually order materials under +/- 0.0002" (+/- 0.05 mm) tolerance on the diameter for Brass and Stainless.
Thanks!

I would say you would want to maintain the same tolerance of the material that you do for brass and aluminum. I cannot help with supplier info I am in the US
