Default CNC Router Parts 4x6 machine

I have a CNC RP 4x6 and do lots of 3D woodworking... just in the past 3 weeks, I noticed in doing a finish cut, that "Z" moves up .03 +- and my finish cut is no more. Tried doing a run in "air". same results. and there is no slippage in the couplers (have index marks to make sure) Collet is good as I measured bit before & after but running in "air" without spindle running proves that it is not in the collet. Any suggestions?????

Make sure that there's no binding in the Z axis.

Check the seating of the bearings for the Z shaft where they sit in their mounting blocks and the ball screw nut mounting is not loose.

I may not know all the details, but I think if a ball screw nut or whatever has had a lot of use they may need adjusting as it gains some slop. That is assuming yours or mine are adjustable.
