    Default Touch Plate Problem

I followed Guru Brew’ advice to set up the touch plate for my router on Mach 3.
Everything worked great, but after the touch off, it never went to PRZ (part reference zero)
So it started to run the program about .375 above the material.
I think I could fake out the machine by lying about the actual Depth of the touch off plate.
It measures out at .77, but I’d rather not fake it out.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Rob

I forget where I got it. The meatball part is about the size of a quarter surrounded by black plastic connected to a black n white wire with the white wire having the cheezy alligator clip

This is exactly it. Except I paid $6.00 ha!
I think it’s more to do with my programming.
I’m gonna try the fake out move by telling the machine it isn’t .77, actually less after I measure the Z offset height

You definitely need to account for the height of the zeroing-fixture.

If I’m correct, the zeroing fixture is that little aluminum and plastic tool with the clip?

It sounds like with your last post that you figured this out but just in case, yes, the fixture that zeros the bit zeros to the top of the fixture. To zero to your table or material height, you have to know the exact height of the fixture and remove that distance to zero to the bottom of the fixture. I zero to my machine’s spoilboard but some zero to the top of the material, which is another discussion that has taken place many times and would be worthy of a search.

    I did
And in the first run... perfect.
Then I changed programs, use the auto tool set up and when I went to Cycle Start. The X jumped up a couple of points.
So I had to re Zero it by the old way.
    Drives me crazy
