I purchased an older Multicam 44 plus and am trying to bring it back to life in my garage. I rewired the VFD for single phase but have not been able to get the spindle running properly. The spindle powers on and spins very slowly (~100rpm) for about 30 seconds and then the VFD faults for overcurrent. The spindle spins freely by hand and the VFD is putting out 240V 3-phase. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot from here.
Any guidance on what to check next or how to isolate the spindle or VFD as the culprit would be greatly appreciated. I also wonder if the VFD might be underpowered to run this spindle (4HP) on single phase. (?)
