Question Citizen 1999 L432 Meldas 500L error messages?

    I need some guidance guys

    The situation is as follows:

    1. We have just acquired a 1999 vintage Citizen L432 Meldas 500L with an IEMCA 542r bar feed
    2. We believe the machine has not been under power since July this year
    3. The machine does power up but the bar feed is completely dead
    4. The chip and parts conveyors are unresponsive too
    5. The alarm message reads:

    EX101 BAR LOADER ALARM

    6. The NC alarm reads:

    2Z70 ABS. ERROR 0004

    7. The operator message alternates between:

OP093 PLEASE CHECK EMERGENCY BUTTON. (FRONT OR REAR SIDE)

    and

    OP118 PLEASE NC POWER OFF

    8. We are completely new to Mitsubishi controls
    9. We do not have the citizen operating or programming manuals but they have been ordered
    10. From web research it has been suggested to:

    a) Hold the power off button down for 3 seconds before holding the power on button down for 3 seconds

    b) Press the power off button 3 times in 1 second intervals then hit the power on button

    c) Reset the thermal relays, power down then power up again

All of which we have tried to nil effect

    11. There are two thermal relays, the left is red LED illuminated but the right one is off but does light up when the coolant pump is activated which is responsive, so we don't think the relays are connected to the issue
    12. We do have the maintenance manual which states the following for the error messages:

    EX101 BAR LOADER ALARM
*If no alarm has incurred, there is either a wiring error or NC trouble

OP093 - PLEASE CHECK EMERGENCY BUTTON (FRONT OR REAR SIDE)
*The emergency stop button is pressed
*The procedure for turning on the power is incorrect

OP118 - PLEASE NC POWER OFF
*The emergency stop button is pressed
*The procedure for turning on the power is incorrect

    13. As the bar feeder is empty and un-powered and the emergency buttons are in the operating position, it would suggest there is either some trick to turning the power on or the fault lies with the 2Z70 ABS. ERROR 0004 alarm

    14. The operator manual is silent on the 2Z70 ABS. ERROR 0004 error, however on the Mitsubishi website, I found the following:

    Z70 0004

    In depth analysis:
    1) Set servo specification parameters to OEM supplied hard copy.
    2) Set Abs-Srv parameter in the set screen.
    3) Set absolute position.
    4) Cycle power and execute zero point initialisation.

    Corrective action:
    1) Set servo specification parameters to OEM supplied hard copy.
    2) Set Abs-Srv parameter in the set screen.
    3) Set absolute position.
    4) Cycle power and execute zero point initialisation.

    15. We can't get the axes to move to attempt any zero point initialisation but then again we are new to this control and don't have the manual so may not be following the right procedure to move them

At this point we are out of ideas, we do not have OEM parameters other than those listed in the maintenance manual which differ to what is in the machine and in any event if we try to change any of them a "DATA PROTECT" message pops up and the parameter remains unchanged.

Is there a particular procedure to powering on or does anyone know where to point us?

    Thanks guys

I have that exact machine setup. that barfeeder alarm will show up every time you power up until you get the barfeeder turned on. once you power the bar feeder and hit switch S73, then the manual or automatic button, then you will clear the barfeed alarm
I have had that 2Z70 ABS. ERROR 0004 before. give Mitsubishi a call, but I think you need a new z axis servo drive. I have one for that machine if you want to try that.If that alarm can be cleared by doing a zero return, Its easy. go to parameters, type in 17-enter then 18 and enter then cycle start. that will home x1. then you hit 19,cycle start,20-cycle start,21-cycle start, 22-cycle start.
