    Default Tool Clearance in program

Has any one ever rotated the tool carousel in a program for tool\part clearance?
I would like to call a tool pocket without a tool change.

What about going to an XY position where the carousel can rotate safely in any direction to any toolpot ?

I've never done it in a program, but in MDI you can use T1 to rotate to pocket 1 without a tool change. I don't see why it wouldn't work in a program too.

Hmmm. Just tried this, and only seemed to work if there was no tool in spindle so probably won't work for what you want to do.

Before shutting down the control I frequenty put the tool away and use
T1 to rotate to pocket 1 so assumed it would work.

Reading a little more into your query....
Are you wanting to pre-select next tool in your program ?..
(Assuming T# is same as Pot#, and doesn't alter)
The M6 is the command that actually does the swap out.

If your machine does NOT have a toolchange arm, then WHY are you moving the carousel away from where the tool (that is in spindle) will be placed.
Next tool pre-selection can only occur on machines that have a change arm (it holds both in-going & out-going tools).

But if you have tool assemblies that their lengths interfere with the job on the table, then a pot# could be called by T# to swing the carousel to a safer position). This is normally bad practice as it is asking for a crash. Remove the unused tools, or shorten the assemblies.

If you want to see if any tool will hit a clamp or the part, put the X and Y axis were you think it will hit, bring the carousel to the spindle and index the tool carousel to each tool.
