Hi All,
I have just fitted a brand new Spindax Spindle drive on my machine(the old 1 lost all its smoke in a bang)
I swapped it out, checked mains in, motor isolation etc. Changed the keypad, so should swap all settings to new drive?
I have an error "SPINDLE DEC TO ZERO TIME" I can delete error, boot servos up, align machine etc.
G code run X,Y,Z fine, M3/4/S command start spindle, the spindle runs, however the speed is only 25% of command input(If I program 1000 I just get 250rpm) The readout is showing the actual spindle speed, after the 10 seconds, it trips due to error and comes up "SPINDLE ACC/DEC TIME"
Am new to these machines, so any advise would be appreciated? I can get into all parameters on machine conterol and know how to change settings in Spindax, but have hit a bit of a wall with it?
Regards John

Hi There,
Thank you for reply.
How do I do that?
Hi,
I am not familiar with the Spindax drive. However, I have seen this issue with other machines where I have swapped out drives- in all drives which are controlled by an analog voltage (0-10v), you need to set the input scale via parameters. In order to describe this better, it means the rpm/volt ration (for example, if your control puts an output of 1 volt, it expects the spindle to run at 1000 RPM, and if the encoder feedback does not correspond to the correct speed, you would see this error)
Its normally a simple drive parameter- once set this problem should be out of the way.
I hope this helps you!

Hi Jaideep,
I have downloaded the 83 page driver information, will trawl through it and see if can find information I need.......
Would be good if anyone out there has a parameter settings for the drive, so can load them up?
Programs 1-99 and bit code 1-99
Hi GWOOD, do you think Robert would have the info? I just find most of so called experts over here are not!
While I can agree some "experts" don't necessarily know what they are talking about, Cincinnati still has good support people. Robert and Greg were around when these machines were built and have a lot of experience with them.
I haven't had to talk to Robert in quite a few years, but he is probably your best bet. I have an old binder on the CT controls that may have some of the info you need, but haven't had to work one one for 15+ years so would have to dig pretty deep just to find it.
Hi Maver1ck and All
Thank you for info and advise, I have had a so called expert come out to machine to fit a forth axis I bought, it would not work and he deleted the machine memory at the same time, so am very apprehensive of calling anyone in I don't know. I have now investigated the wiring and mechanical job he did, it was real bad! I will post a video of the work sometime.
I was trawling through Spindax manual again last night, now the max spindle speed of machine is 6000rpm, the max motor speed is 12000rpm. we have a 2 to 1 ratio on belt drive, the motor is a 4 pole. In the manual the max speed the Spindax can run a motor at is 9000rpm, however it does have settings of 2, 4 and 8 pole. The only way I can possibly see this can operate is if I set at 8 pole and drop my max speed to 6000rpm. my encoder is picking up the correct spindle speed, so hope this does the job........
Nope it did not....................
Back to drawing board!
I'm assuming your drive is so far God and you can't power it up at all just to see what the original settings were...?
I wasn't suggesting you call Robert to have him come in to work on your machine but call him to see if he might have the original drive setup for that machine.
And I do understand your concerns with having unqualified people work on your machine. I have been on a lot of jobs where I spend more time undoing what the previous technician did than I do fixing the actual problem.
Hi,
Yes drive is finished, dead as the proverbial dodo.
I have loads of work on for next week or so(this machine is a hobby thing)will get back into it when clear my head of work I have to get through.
Will give Robert a call and see if can help, I don't mind paying for rite guy, or information.
Will let you know how things pan out.
Thank you John
