Default Arrow 500 spindle motor upgrade

The spindle motor in my Arrow 500 started making noise.
It sounds like the lower bearing is going bad.

Is it possible to swap the original 8k rpm motor with a 12k rpm motor.

Edit: original motor is 10k rpm, machine has 8k rpm spindle.

In theory it should be possible, but that doesn't mean you should. Any spindle over 8000 rpm on these machines was accompanied by a spindle chiller to keep the spindle from overheating (and I believe it was limited to 10K on that vintage). Putting a higher speed motor may have you replacing your spindle sooner than you'd like if you don't take proper steps to accommodate this.

I am actually parting out a 98 Arrow 500 ERO right now, so probably have the motor you would need if it becomes necessary to replace it, but barring any major issues with the motor, yours should be able to be repaired as well.

    Thanks maver1ck.
I'm not looking to gain more spindle rpm, just exploring motor options.
I can't afford the downtime to rebuild the motor.
Did find a few 10k motors available in Grand Rapids Michigan
Will swap motors then rebuild the original.
