I have a 3018 pro (upgraded to 3040) with a 15w laser however it appears that the laser only engraves on outward pass on the x axis. I have seen various you tube videos that suggest that the laser would work back and forth. is there a setting that i have missed? I am using Laser GRBL as the source to power it.
regards
Is this a new laser? Is it powered from board or secondary supply? I haven't done much with the laser I have just screwed around a bit to ensure it was working but as I recall it was usually just on or off with power % settings for the basic. So let me ask just so I am clear it will only power on the laser when it's moving in 1 direction of the x axis? But fine with y both directions? and z wouldn't be used for anything other than maybe focus depending on laser. Have you used a spindle in it? To me without looking at it sound possible there is a short on the board or wiring grounding itself and sending the power headed to the laser to ground instead when that particular direction is active. If you stop the motion in that direction for a second does it come back on while stationary?
hi, as a piece of work is running it will only laser on the outward pass in a line on the x axis, there is no other way it appears to etch. the laser is direct from the board on the machine.
