    Hallo Raini,

    Gruss Tom

    Hey there, I have this same unit which came wiht my CNC6040 i bought second hand but the VFD is locked in password mode, does anyone know the password for them?

    It will depend if someone has added a pass word but normally people should not

    This will also depend on what VFD Drive you have also

    Check Parameter PD000=0 if set to 1 that will lock parameter setting this is for the HY VFD Drive

    It is a pity this topic has turned so silent as this is something a lot of users are struggling with and there is no topic with a solution or some confirming the suggestions worked.
    It contains a lot of valuable information.

    I’m also working to get the spindle speed controlled from de JP-3165B rev 3.9 board.
    I have managed to start the spindle from the CNC USB software but somehow I do not get maximum speed out of it.
    When I measure the voltage from the 0-10v pin I only measure between 5.1 and 6.1 volts. Just wondering if this is related to a setting in the old USB CNC software or it is the board.

    I’m also waiting for a parallel interface so I can do the same test with mach3 and see what I measure then, but this has to wait until I have all the components in house.

    My VFD is a bit different (A2-2015B), but essentially it can be controlled with three wires like the one discussed.
    This is how I hooked it up:
    JP-3165B - VFD
    GND -> GND
    0-10v -> 10v-in
    NO -> FWD
    C -> GND

    Last thing I want to test if this PWM to analog converter does the trick as the VFD requires analog input and from what I understand from many discussions is that the 0-10v pin on the JP-3165B issues PWM 0-10v.

    If you have some more information which might be relevant please contribute to this topic.

    Just thinking if the low voltages on the 0-10v pin could have something to to with the board being setup to use it's internal 5v instead of an external source of 12 or 24 volts.
    I don't think it is because I do get 10v on the pin in certain conditions, so it looks like the board is capable to increase the voltage
    Jumper JP1 is responsible for this. However my board is a v3.9 which has 5 jumpers instead of the 3 you commonly find on the internet.
    On these older boards you would need to place JP1 in position 2-3 and remove JP3 to allow 24v input (plus you should not forget to add resistors for the input switches!)

    Does anyone know how this is done on the newer 5 jumper boards? Does it just need JP1 in the 2-3 position and it will work with 12 or 24 volts?

    Ok, spindle control via MACH3 is working perfectly directly from the JP-3163B board to the VFD. No PWM to analog board required.
    It took some time to sort out the settings, but it works.
    of course you need to set the VFD to "listen" to external input. In my (A2-2015B) this is Pn03 to 4 (external 0-10v signal) and Pn04 to 2 (External signal control)

    If someone else has to solution to do the same with USB-CNC from PlanetCNC (version: 2.10.1208.601 which cannot be upgraded because the JP-3163B is not from PlanetCNC)

    Sorry new link here (can't edit the posting anymore):
    You are looking at Mach3 Version 3.043

    Hello. I have read the posts. I own an identical machine like " lastdown ", VFD, spindle and control board, USB connector. If it is possible to post simple instructions for a beginner. The settings made for mach3 control as well as for spindle directly from CNCUSB. Print screens or private message at "neaga_mih@yahoo.com". Please help.
    What is the setup to use cnc to the maximum potential, spindle control from mach or CNCUSB,are necessary hardware changes or the NcUsbPod.dll plugin?
    LASTDOWN can you help? Thank you!

    I missed your post, I did not get notified that a reaction was posted. I did for the private message though. Send you an email but sharing for all here as well.

    I made a lot of changes.
    1. Added limit switches on all axis and set that up as a closed circuit (if a cable breaks the limit switch safety will enable and then you know something is wrong with the cabling because the machine stops. (if you use open circuit it will never notice a broken cable and in case it would then hit the switch it will not stop because the signal will not be detected by the control board because of the broken cable))

    2. rewired the whole thing to have it properly grounded as it was a death trap (attaching rewire plan (the old as it was and the new how I made it)) No need to do the same, but I do recommend to do at least some grounding of the machine itself.
    The ground cable is connected to the bed, portal and spindle so I'm sure everything metal I could touch is grounded.

    To control spindle speed from Mach3 you do need to change P03 to 4 and P04 to 2 on the VFD otherwise it won’t work.
    I can tell you I never could control the speed with CNCUSB but with MACH3 speed control works perfectly. As this CNCUSB is an old version and I did not spend time on this and used one of the latest mach3 versions and here speed control works well.

    Hope this helps you and others.

    i threw out that cra... board, changed to grbl and regular drivers, opto board for limit switches, and simple on/off relay board for spindle
