CNC 3018: laser & drill not turning on

Hi All,

I have purchase a 3018 CNC engraver off eBay but having difficulty getting either the laser or drill to turn on. The X,Y & Z axes move fine but I can't burn or engrave.

Below are the following steps tried:

I have 2 CNC 3018 machine which are different makes and one of which functions fine using the same computer & software installed.

Taken the laser from problem device and plugged into known good machine which doesn't work
Taken known good laser from working machine and plugged into problem machine which doesn't work
Taken drill from problem device and connected to know good machine which works fine
Taken drill from known good machine and plugged into problem one and it doesn't work

LiteFire v1.25.82.2040
When I click "laser on (Strong)" I see an LED turn on from the board but the laser itself doesn't turn on

grblControl v0.8.4
When I press the "spindle off / on" button nothing happens
