    Default HY CNC 3040

I finally got my hands on the HYCNC 3040, a much more torquey and powerful unit compared to the LYCNC3040, the main advantage of this machine is that all the ball screws are hidden, no need to worry about dust and chips getting in the ballscrews and eventually get stuck, it also had a build-in coolant pan which I dont need at the moment because were only cutting / engraving wood, the onboard controller is a bit hard to setup at first but I got used to it, works perfect, the only modification I`ved done is the installation of the big 4X4 220VAC fan located at the back, I also took out all the limit switches in which I also dont need it, all in all im impressed with the machine honestly

I also made a custom table just for the unit, the PC at the back, mouse and gamepad on top, no need for a keyboard, the spindle only generate 82W using a 1/8 single flute, it cuts hardwood and resin just like machining a styrofoam, a far more superior spindle power compared to our LYCNC3040 unit.

How well does this machine work for you? I am testing one out to see if it's what I need for plaque work but it's a whole different beast from the Laguna a friend of mine has.

I was concerned that it was made only for the 5 axis function but it seems I may be wrong. I have the Mach 3 and just downloaded the Mach 4 hobby demo which looks cleaner than 3.

    Advice?

Edit: I have the 3040 Column machine.

Yes it can work as a 3 axis CNC, it depends on how you set-up the machine, I can work on metals on an ordinary LYCNC 3040, this unit is so overkill on doing just woodwork but it`s a future unit if the market changes from wood to metals, at least we already have a machine so capable of chipping / carving aluminum and other metals, it also had a built-in coolant catcher basin for recycling coolant to cool down the tool bit while working with metals which I took out because I dont need that as of the moment my mach 3 is so much more easy to use because I modified it and also tweak it to support an ordinary gamepad controller, I removed the limit switches (switches on this unit sucks) on this unit and I zero anywhere on the table depending on the jig I use, created custom zeroing positions depending on what product I mass produce.

    Here`s my Mach 3
