What other wiring have you done or changed
Nothing. I wonder if the foil insulation in my shed has anything to do with it. If it is noise .

What do buy that is affordable is the next question.
Sounds good. A magnetic Stutter is ok...a mechanical stutter is not.
CPU usage is excellent....What about RAM? How much have you got?

You are right ...Its very frustrating , especially when you are learning.

What Controller do you have? What size DC power supply do you have?

    Just checked. 1.2gb of ram.
Today I dragged it out to the garden and plugged it into another circuit in the house. Just in case the foil insulation in my shed was causing it. But no. Still the same. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. Seller on eBay is being helpful, and I did find movement in the gantry bearings. But would that explain and incremental wandering of the zero over 5mm on 5 cycles? It seems to go further each time

Have you tried running the machine without the spindle powered up....? You can run a program above the work space without the spindle powered up to see if your problem remains

Spindle is off in the vid. Problem remains. I'm going to take the bed and gantry off next. In case I have missed something and to check the rails properly.

When i received my 6040 i had motors stalling.....found that there was no real resistance on any axis but the randomly stalled causing missed steps. I dumped the rubbish motor drivers and bob....wired up a new control panel and my machine never missed a step in seven years...even when breaking endmills it would just snap them off and keep its position. It sounds to me like in the video that either your motor is struggling being loaded up or you have motor drivers that are not efficient. I used Leadshine drivers and love them

You have those knobs at the end of the stepper motors...they are good for turning by hand through the whole distance of each axis to feel if the motor is being loaded down! If the movement is smooth all the way then you obviously have an electrical/electronic issue

Have the bed off. Checking rail on the Y. Have them set now. No movement . Yet it slides nice. Worm has a 1mm bend in the middle. Ball drive was shimmed with 4 washers on each bolt. It seems to move better with them out. Table was about 10mm off level due to the shed floor. Now set level. Everything square ..

Test again in the morning. Was looking at these on ebay. Lots of great reviews on them. If the mechanical side turns out to be OK. I think im going to buy 3 . I will be expecting money back from ebay to help fund.

    Now.

    A beer.

I am still concerned your PC may be underpowered as well.
CPU needs to be around 2GigHz or more.
XP will only 'see' a max of 3 Gig of RAM, so you have to fit 4 to achieve that

    Its a 2.3GigHz machine

OK. I have done much work and reassembled the frame. Everything square and working moving smoothly with no sideways movement in the bearings. I have ran a program and the problem is still there. The machine is losing or adding lots of steps.

I think I can hear when is happens and the motors on all axis make a "JUD" sound as they change direction or start quickly. The same judder sound you hear from manually turning the motors too quickly. I think its called magnetic drag??
The move complex the program, the worse it is.

My guess is bad drivers for the the motors. But as a newbie im not sure.

So I just did it and went ahead and bought 3 new drivers which are cheap. I rekon I would want to upgrade the drivers at some stage anyway going by the comments.

I have a few questions about wireing the DM524t

The connection between the 25pin port BOB
    and the drivers.

I have 3 wires going into each current TX14207 drivers

    pin1 _ direction
    pin2_ step
    pin3_ +5v

    On the DM524t 6 terminals

    1. PUL+(+5v)
    2. PUL- (PUL)
    3 DIR+ (+5v)
    4. DIR- (DIR)
    5. ENA+ (+5v)
    6. ENA- (ENA)

I am not sure of how to connect this? Here is a pic of the unit
    https://www.omc-stepperonline.com/im...-1000x1000.jpg

There is also dip switches. 8 of them. I have 3 Stepping motors: 57 two-phase 3A 150N.cm The Z has a smaller motor in size. Not sure if that make a difference.

I have not clue on how to set the switches. I would guess and burn something. here is the manual.

Any help would be very gratefully received.

    Update. Fitted the StepperOnLine DM542T

Wiring was simple enough after a bit of youtubing.

What I dont understand is the difference in the sounds of the motors. ??

With the new drivers, the motors hardly make any sound at all unless jogging. It jogs much smoother and faster as well.

    Why is this?

Here is the cnc fitted with new drivers. Compare it to the vids on the past posts on this thread. The fan in the control box is making more noise .

The ebay seller gave me money back which covered most of the cost on new parts.

Well done. It sounds alot better.
It can only be due to better quality motor drivers.

    Has it fixed your problem?
