Thanks DMcKee for this thread. I have the same machine and have been able to connect limit switches to those pins I also found the oval shaped solder pads at the top right of the board above the circle you marked around the spot for the 25 pin header can be used for a z probe connection as it connects via a resistor and opto coupler to pin 15 on the parallel port.

DMcKee do you have pictures of you Mach3 settings for the motor tuning? I been having problems with repeatability... Thank you in advance.

    Slomas,
Sorry I was on vacation. Here are the XYZ images. The velocity for X and Y is entered as 2000 but changes to 1999.8 for some reason. For Z the velocity is 700 but changes to 700.2
IMPORTANT! Do not forget to "SAVE AXIS SETTINGS" for EACH axis; otherwise you'll loose the changes you've made.
    Best of luck.

I have the same machine but the control box is different...
how can I connect here!!! limit switches?? is a 4-axis Tonsen
if anyone can help me I would be very grateful thanks.

You're right - doesn't look like anyone has experience with your board. I sure don't know anything about that one. Good luck!!!

    Hi cimitoka

it looks like your the first with that breakout board !

looking at your photo it looks like its possible
but more detailed photos of both sides of the board will be required to see the PCB tracks
and workout the connections to 5 opto isolators you need to add to safely connect switches to your printer port

    Hi cimitoka

another diagram of what I'd expect the unused input connections to be

Has anyone added switches to a YooCNC 3040T control box?-tonsen-2-jpg

if you decided to connect the limit switches directly to the PC printer port without the opto isolators

the input connections shown in red are the direct connection between the printer port pins
and the collector terminal of the opto isolator when its fitted

I'd fit a 6 X 4k7 SIL resistor array to help pull up the inputs when the limit switches are open circuit
you could wire six 4K7 resistors together to make an array but a resistor array like this is easier :-

    10 x 6x4.7k? Ohm Widerstandsnetzwerk resistor array networ SIP-7 10pcs | eBay

you will need to find a terminal connected to the printer port ground to use as the common for your limit switches

with detailed pictures of the printed circuit I'l be able to correct any errors and add more details as required

    John

    PS

found this post with a circuit for your board :-

    Tonsen 4 Axis Controller/Bob

my corrected version with notes of things I'd still need to check

    Hi cimitoka

I've added the E stop connector to the circuit diagram to match your PCB board
and added some lables to the picture of the top of the PCB

Has anyone added switches to a YooCNC 3040T control box?-schematic-notes-v2-jpg

Has anyone added switches to a YooCNC 3040T control box?-bob-top4-jpg

are you going to add the limit switches without the opto-isolators
like they connected the E stop switch ?

If you are, just wire across the opto isolator pins 2 & 4

so the limit switches can be connected to the 10 way connector

the limit switch needs ground the printer port pin you wish to use (pin 11 , 12 13 or 15 )

Default add circuit without the opto isolators

    Hi Cimitoka

are you going to fit opto isolators ?
and do you have a desoldering tool like this ?

Has anyone added switches to a YooCNC 3040T control box?-vacuum-desoldering-tool-jpg

    I would use opto-isolator

but if you go with the opto isolators bypassed and you don't have a desolder tool

you can connect an individual 4K7 pull up resistor between the +5V terminal and
each additional input terminal your using
instead of using a 4K7 resistor array

Hi John I do not think I can do...

can you do it? I can send to you?
of course all expenses charged to me

    Hi Cimitoka

what part of the world do you live in? (pm me)

insured postal charges between the UK and the US can be OTT
the other issues I've had on occasions is with UK customs *

depending on the postage costs etc.
I'll either add the parts to your board
or find / make an easy cable adaptor to connect your existing breakout board to
a simple adaptor to connect the limit switches to the printer port

(a simple adaptor cable using a ribbon cable with an IDC 25 pin plug and two IDC 25 way sockets doesn’t need soldering !)

how many inputs do you need to use for the limit switches ?

for now I'll have a think the about various options

    John

    *
in the past UK customs wanted to charge me import duty and VAT(tax) on a power supply ,
replaced under warranty. (it had been sent from Canada via USA)

as an example tax and postage doubles the cost of the Gecko G540 in the UK !

    Hi Cimitoka

    this is what I'm thinking

Has anyone added switches to a YooCNC 3040T control box?-limit-switch-adaptor-y-cable-jpg

it has the advantage that you don't have to post the original yoocnc b.o.b so you can all ways use your machine

its just a matter of deciding how many inputs and what type of connectors to use for the limit switches

the adaptor PCB can be either be a one off board I can make or a ready made breakout board

    if you have the space

the yoocnc board and the limit switch adaptor can be fitted inside of the control box

    John
