    Default Home/Limit Switch Guidance

D&M 5 Lathe Acorn CNC retrofit, only replacing the controller and adding DC isolation for the spindle drive.

Have everything about 75% wired up and just realized that there are no home/limit switches on the machine. Better yet I don't know the first thing about what kinds and where to place them.

Looking for guidance on what would be the appropriate switched to buy, mechanical or proximity?

Also where they should be mounted, I would assume they will be at the X+ and Z+ limits but how will this play with the tail stock.

Any help you can offer or examples from your own projects would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks islaww!

Still a little fuzzy on how have a tail stock sensing switch works with the a Z axis switch and software.

Is the tail stock switch being used as a limit switch to prevent collision? and the Z axis switch being used as home?
