2001 Bridgeport ezpathe IIISD lathe GP error on program load?
Recently got a 2001 Bridgeport ezpathe IIISD lathe. Its now installed and checked out/adjusted and Im trying to load programs. I can view txt programs generated from cam but when I try to execute a "RUN" command to load them into memory, I get a "GP error" and the control reboots. This does not happen to the few PGM programs that are resident on the C drive from the previous owner. I tried running cam programs from the A drive and tried copying them to the C drive and still same error.
(forgot to add that I can upload the previous owners PGM programs and run them just fine)
Heres the test program Im trying to run. Its supposed to be a post for this later version of the ezpath control.

Weird. Bad syntax is the cause. Unless there is an X and a Z move on every line, it will crash the OS. This post was supposed to work on the later controls....

Re: 2001 Bridgeport ezpathe IIISD lathe GP error on program load?
I see that bridgeport romi powerpath controls can interpret gcode differently depending on what characters are at the beginning of the program "&" changes to fanuc mode, "&" causes the control to accept bridgeport mode cgode. Anyone know if thats true of the last gen ezpath controls? Ive got a : at the beginning of my output.
Also, Im thinking there must be a control parameter that changes cgode interpretation, otherwise I doubt that all 4 of the ezpath posts in the gibbscam library would post the same non working code on an ezpath.

Wow, for a machine thats this common, seems like theres literally no knowledge about the control gcode requirements out there. So no one has ever determined what any of the parameters on this control actually do? I checked with EMI and even they dont know anything about the parameter definitions. Sad to be held up by what is likely a simple parameter change. Otherwise seems like a great machine.

What I would do is load a good running pgm program; then hit the - (minus) key once to see the gcode. Compare some of the code to the problem txt code and see if there is any obvious difference in the program header, commands etc. Press the 1 key to scroll down through the code.
Another thing that can happen is unseen format tags and styles or other coding schemes can be added to the file. See here where I explained it a bit.

Re: 2001 Bridgeport ezpathe IIISD lathe GP error on program load?
I did try that but even if I saved one of the previous owners PGM programs as a gcode format txt, and changed just one line to take X or Z to another line, it would crash the control on load! With no changes the converted cgode would run perfectly.
So I ended up getting a couple working gibbs ezpath posts, one for the conversational output and one for Gcode. Me and a programmer buddy made a stab at changing the closest gibbs post I had earlier with compost and managed to get the approach line changed but starting from zero experience writing posts, seemed like it was going to be a long slog.
Works great now, at least for the couple test parts I made with threading, contours, roughing, finishing. Even the duplomatic tool changer works with the tool change commands.
