trying to get a bridgeport eztrak running

I have just got a Bridgeport EZtrak milling machine when powering it up the screen comes up within what I believe is the correct format but with QQQPOWE in the top right hand space and nothing else to do with position control works. The spindle will start up. Has anyone got any ideas? The band across the screen it interaction between the lighting in the workshop and the screen and I cannot see it except on the photo
