Unhappy Bridgeport Explorer X-26: Hard drive failed, lost all DX-32 software and param files.

Does anyone out there have a working Bridgeport Explorer X-26 with the original DX-32 controls? I would be so grateful for a copy of the files on your hard drive.

I am heartbroken. On Friday I wrapped up a 6-week endeavor of delivering and installing my new(used) Bridgeport Explorer X-26. I purchased the machine in working condition, with all original controls. It was built in 1996. I did not intend to retrofit the controls. This machine is a beauty from the 90's, and I wanted to keep as much as possible original. Ive used DX-32 on other machines. It is a great utility. I rebuilt the spindle with new bearings and belts, lubed everything, meticulously cleaned - On Friday afternoon she was perfect. Ready for Monday. I took pictures and texted all my friends! Open for business!...

I noticed the hard drive was pretty loud. It sounded like bad ball bearings. Realizing the drive is 26 years old, I deiced to create a backup. I've done this many times before. I didn't think much of it.

What I failed to realize was how many amps this old beast HD needed. My HD adapter went into over-current protection, and there was a back-EMF surge that fried the hard drive.

With no obvious source for the DX-32 software and parameter files, I'm looking at a complete retrofit of CNC computer and IO cards. :'(

I would be immensely grateful if someone out there had a copy of these files.

I may be able to help you. Pictures of the control cabinet would help. nick.mcquiston@phoenixlaser.com
