    Default Alarm 441

    I am getting this alarm 441 on my VMC Bridgeport 1000 XP3 (Equipped with a Fanuc 18i-MB Control),
    Alarm 441: X AXIS Abnormal Current Offset.

    Any know what how to fix this?
    Hardinge recommended we replace the X Axis amplifier, we did this but there is not change.
    Is there any easy way to determine if the motor has failed?
    Can I measure the motor phases at its connection to the amplifier?
    If so, what would I expect to see?
    Is this a 3-phase motor?

    Please advise

    Most likely X-Axis armature cable. X-axis cable flexs when Y-axis moves. Difficult to swap axis connections to motor, need to switch armature, encoder and connection from control to drive. Cannot run machine, control may run away if rotation direction is different. Also if cable or motor is bad may damage drive. Take out motor and hi pot test. same to armature cable dissconnect from motor and drive. A resistance test will typically only show a short, not failing insulation. Inspect cable for cracked insulation. Oem cables were not the best for the app. need hi flex w polyurethane jacket. Also if one cable is bad replace both replace armature and encoder.

    Try to disconnect motor cables, an restart. If alarm still occours, try to replace the amplifier.
