Default Torq Cut 22 Spindle drive fault

Does any on know what the F602 fault is?

I keep getting an axis drive fault. When I do get the axis to stay on and turn on the spindle I can here it varying the rpm. I can also see this variance in cut it is making.

Any suggestions on isolating the error. I would hate to send the drive off and find out it is the Motor.

Any help is appreciated. I have a large job to get out the door. I am dead in the water until I get this repaired.

The F602 is a lost phase, how are you powering your machine

It is being run from single phase power. Has been running for over a year this way with no issues.

How do you have it connected, there is a right way and a wrong way to do this

Another clue...yesterday I was tapping large threads and stalled the spindle a couple of times. The mill ran normal all day after that with no issues.

The voltage coming into the VFD is 247.

Yes sir. It has been running well for over a year in this configuration.

Would switching phases at the vfd tell us anything?

No you can not switch any Phases, R and S are the correct main power supply connection for the VFD Drive

That's not a good idea to show people that you are using a white wire for a Power wire, this is a code violation

At the VFD Drive you need to remove T terminal wire and tape it off. Then jumper R to T Terminal this will get rid of the F602 if you don't have any damage to the VFD

You must run your machine with this in your mind that you will have more than 1/3 less Hp, running on single phase, if you stall your spindle motor you will do some expensive damage, I still have some parts for these machines new VFD Drives Etc

As I said earlier. I stalled it a couple of times yesterday. This is probable why I am having issues today.

I did as you said and removed the T wire at the VFD and jumped R and T. As soon as I turn on axis drives I get and axis fault. So I would assume that the drive is damaged.

In all the reading of making this machine run from single phase I do not remember instructions to jump R&T.

What is the cost for a VFD from you. Are you affiliated with EMI?

No we are not affiliated with EMI

When you say you have an axis drive fault which axes

After turning on machine an enabling axsdrv I get this error. Sometimes it will wait a minute or two before erroring.

I had the spindle running one time when it errored and it didn't apply the brake.

Ok remove the Jumper and we will do it another way, Remove the original jumper that you put in

The L3 line to the VFD T connection can be put back on

    Remove the L3 Fuse

Now Jumper L1 to L3 at the power input, make sure you remove the Jumper you added when you first run your machine

Wouldn't swapping the lines on the vfd have the same effect?

No it would not, you can not change R and S

This is how it has been connected for the past year. No issues until the other day. I have a single phase coolant pump so no modifications were needed there.

Do I need the jumper from R to T in the VFD?

It can be more than a lost phase. If it has been working for a year, and/or is intermittent it's likely a loose connection or distorted power. It's summer and everyone's AC units are running hard. Depending on your location voltages can be swinging wildly during the day. If you try in the middle of the night does it behave?

See page 208 of the manual.

Yes if you connect it the way you have, your jumper, it will help with fooling the phase detection

The other way I suggested is you don't need your jumper in Green or a jumper at the VFD only one Jumper is needed L1 to L3 this will do the same as what you have without the need to have a jumper at the VFD, so all the wiring would stay the same

I ran jumper on the fault circuit for the VFD then turned on the machine. With the jumper in place I do not get the axis fault. Also if I hold in the VFD contractor while enabling the drives I still get the 602 error.

I am confident that the VFD is bad. We will know in a couple of days when the replacement arrives.

My machine has circuit breakers not fuses.

Could you draw on the schematic the way you would wire it up. That would take the confusion out this.

    Thanks for the help.
