    Default GX1000 Spingle Lubrication

I have the GX1000 OSP vertical mill. At the top of the Spindle motor is a fan and over time, grease has escaped. Is there a way to add more grease? The maintenance manual appears useless unless I overlooked a chapter. I use the machine a few times per week and I seldom run the spindle over 8000 rpm. Thanks.

What you are seeing is probably coolant residue coating the fan, especially if you use high pressure coolant. Keep all of the fans clean, like on the heat sinks for your drives and any motors. You don't need to grease fan motors.

The GX Hardinge line with OSP controls didn't go over very well. If a customer wanted Hardinge they preferred Fanuc, and if they wanted Okuma controls, they generally bought a Genos.
