Default Bridgeport Interact 412 spindle orientation ?

When I orient the spindle with a M19 it is no longer in the correct location for a tool change. I'm assuming there might be a parameter change required to get the spindle orientation back to where it needs to be? Or is there an adjustment on one of the spindle drive boards ? I had looked in the manual and it says nothing about this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!
    Thank You !!

How it is set depends upon the control and drives you have. Check the control manual.

    Thanks for your help !!

The Machine has a Heidenhain 151 Q Controller with Bosch axis drive boards.
The manuals do not have instructions on how to do this.

I actually had this problem a few weeks ago. I turned the spindle manually for a few tool changes but it would always want to go back to the position that was not correct. I looked in my manual and found that CR11 - or CR17, one of those (for fanuc drives) was for the tool change position. I took the relay board off, gave it a few good shakes, and it works fine now. Not sure if it was a sticky relay or if it just needed a few power downs but I haven't had a problem with it since. I first noticed it doing this after tapping cycles when it was turning the opposite way (after backing out) to align for a tool change.

Hope you get it figured out

Wow........It sounds like you got really lucky.
I have changed relays with no luck

When I do a M19 my spindle stops at random locations like it's lost.

Usually these old spindle drives had a piggy back orientation board on the spindle drive.
There were many adjustments on them including balance and gain for orientation AND 3 pots for course, medium and fine adjustment of the actual orientation position.
By moving these pots (more like 10 position miniature rotary switches) you set or correct the orient position. No, I do not have the Fanuc manual on this but I am sure that if you call Fanuc, they can fax or email you the pages pertaining to this.
Later machines used a parameter to set orient. I believe your machine used a magnetic sensor and the orient board. You have to look. This is a 25 year old machine.

Sorry to intrude, tested with the spindle encoder, maybe this this fails with a wrong orientation. I guess I tried these things but sometimes the simplest things we do not see.

We had a Bridgeport Interact 412 with that same controller and drive. We had problems with spindle orientation from time to time and had to adjust the 3 pots that George refered to. Our maintenance manual showed this process but I can 't find the manual. I will try to locate it. We also had an orientation problem when we first powered the machine on in the mornings. It would orientate to the correct position and then the spindle would jump in and out of position. We would power down and back up and problem would go away.

Thank You for all the help !!

I have tried many times adjusting the pots on the Spindle orientation board with no luck. The spindle seems to time out and stop at random locations.
I replaced the Spindle orientation board and tried adjusting again....Still does the same thing so I bought a new spindle encoder ....still no luck.
Is there something else i am missing ?

    Thanks
    Ray

Our 412 had four green LED lights. One was labeled orientation. It would light steady when the voltage adjustment for spindle orientation was correct.

If you got a new spindle orientation card you will need to adjust it so it will work correctly.
