Default Adaptive Keep Down & Dog Leg Rapids

I wanted to take a moment and explain what is going on here.

    1) When does the tool go to clearance to re position with adaptive toolpaths.

In the image below I have the same adaptive pocket, same toolpath settings, just using different tools sizes

You see that the smaller tools go to clearance between passes and the larger tools stay down. What's happening in the background is a formula based on the distance the tool has to travel for the next pass. This formula determines if the tool goes to clearance or stays down.

You'll notice in the second picture, the pocket provide is a little different. In this image you see how the smalles tool still needs to go to clearance but as we step up in tool size the tools starts to stay down more.

So if the tool goes to clearance between passes the distanced between passes is greater than the formula allows and forces the tool to retract. As the distance between passes get's closer the tool stays down.

This formula is done in the background and at this time there is no user override. What you can do to keep the tool down is to use a larger tool.

    2) When doing reposition moves how do you avoid dog leg rapids

In the current version of BobCAD, you now have a rapid override option. Allowing you to map your rapid moves to a high feed move. Turning this option will replace all your G00 reposition moves with a G01 move at a user defined feed rate.

Best option is to quit using bobcad. The problem I always had with bobcad is how it tells you how you need to cut things instead of allowing the user to dial in how it computes the toolpath the way you want it too.

Your 15 years too late Dillon... You have no options

BobCad has a TOOLPATH EDITOR!!!!! lol I can actually edit the calculated toolpath.

It doesn't get any more "how you want to do it" than that....

No bobcad is 15 years behind. I use mastercam. I could program by hand faster than using bobcad.

Lmao ok. I own both but believe what you want. I don’t hobby with a ****ty program. I print money all day and night with real machines and real software that can output reliable simultaneous code not just 2d trash.

You really have some deep down personal issues. Once you figure out how to handle yourself maybe you will figure out how to further your future.
