Default 4th axis posting error with BobCad V 29

Posting for a Feature 4 Axis Rotary generates error "Current toolpath is not for 4-axis machine. Posting process exception."

When I designed the tooling the machine was set to 3 axis. After getting this error i researched and found out I needed to change the machine selection. I changed it to BC_4x_Mill but still get the same error when posting.
    The post processor is BC_4x_Mill.BCPst

I figured it out. The Y axis was off on the machine definition.

I discovered the issue is with my parameter setting in cam. My 4th axis runs along the Y. If I change this to X I can post without an issue.
The question is how do I change BobCad to accept the Y axis as my 4th travel?

Its in the machine definition. I also think its a setting in the post processor to go along with the machine definition.

I dont have a computer to walk you through the settings. Maybe someone can chime in to discuss...

Don`t know if this is of any help, I found the following lines in the BC 4x PP, I think it may be that you can swap the X and Y settings so that it would make the Y axis the primary axis.

    442. Wrapping X axis is (1=primary 2=secondary 3=tertiary)? 1
    443. Wrapping Y axis is (1=primary 2=secondary 3=tertiary)? 2
    444. Wrapping Z axis is (1=primary 2=secondary 3=tertiary)? 3

    Like this :-

    442. Wrapping X axis is (1=primary 2=secondary 3=tertiary)? 2
    443. Wrapping Y axis is (1=primary 2=secondary 3=tertiary)? 1
    444. Wrapping Z axis is (1=primary 2=secondary 3=tertiary)? 3

The above is a pure guess, I only have the 3 axis version of BobCAD so I can`t prove it out one way or another, usual caveat applies, use at own risk

    Regards
    Rob

With BobCad closed, go to the machsim folder in the bobcad data folder. Find the folder for bc4xmill and make a copy of it. Rebame the new folder to [yourmachinename]

Now open BobCad and select your new machine. You can mess around with it now so you dont bugger up the default.

Enter the machine definition in current settings. Note where the rotational axis node is. Its usually coupled to the x axis. You'll want it to the y axis.

At some point i think they implemented drag and drop on the tree nodes. Try just dragging it feom the x to the y (first decern hiw it is currently coupled to the x, so you understand where it needs to be moved to the y.

If drag and drop doesnt work, you'll have to delete it and recreate it. Take not of the parameters before deleting the original.

    Heya Mr Burrman

you helped me a couple of years ago with a 4th posting issue on V26

Its working rather well, If I recall, I had to incorporate both your solutions
to a post Bobcad had sent me for my Fadal

I recently upgraded to V30, The guy who sold this version to me they have
a clean post, But the one we spent so much time on will need to be revised
    to work on V30

So I am on the fence to upgrade to the pro 4th plug in on V30
Can you or anybody here put my mind at ease If I purchase the
newer plug in, what is the post change? Or should I just buy it
and let them make the change or myself spending hours of hit and miss
edits to the post file? They are telling me the post editor is more user freindly

Thanks as always for the help

    Hi wayne,
The posting engine is a complete rewrite in the newer versions.

So you wont want to try to use the old post.

But it shouldnt be too hard to decypher the old changes and transfer them to the new system with a good new post processor.

For us, we always worked with a mach3 post in the old days, and modified it as we went and upgraded. When the syatem changed, we started wity a default "bc4axmill" post, then conformed it to our desired settings.

So, knowimg the original post we worked off of, and havimg the 1 we modified to work, will tell enough about what to choose as a base in the new system and what changes to make to have it output just as the old one did....

I dont have a computer right now to help you work it out, but others here could help.

Predator as a diff program to see whats been changed, then applying thisr to a new base...

Or BobCad support, if you can give them that info they need....

    Thanks Mr Burrman

Im quite sure there will be some issues when I get that 4th plug in

Right now, I am having a new computer in the works thats a tad faster than the one im on, and a better graphics card as well
I am getting a few rare software crashes, So aside from updating all the drivers on this guy, I would like to start with a clean slate
on the computer end, Then I will add the 4th, I have watched most all of the vids on U-Tube, and the newer 4th software looks
    mighty fun

    again thanks

    Hi wayne.
Just remember that in the newer versions, the "machine definition" plays a major role in the sim, as well as the actual posting and code output. So that will be the FIRST place to start.
