Do you have V28 Pro or Standard ?
Can you share the part of the file that has the offending tool path ?
Hello...trying to use Bobcad V28 in 3-Axis Z-Level Rough and Z-Level Finish.
Roughing looks OK...but Finishing adds an extra cut or 2, like on the lines...instead of if outside or inside the line. Model is part Mesh and part Solid Models. It also did this on just the mesh too.
Has anyone ever seen this and can help me figure this out. It is going to be an Urn for a family member but not if I can't get rid of these added cuts.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,
Chuck

As I ran the simulation it starts doing so on the first moves...cuts the chamfers first then moves to correct position and cuts down fine.
Just the top of each feature.

Well, here is a screen shot of your code in Preditor,it shows that the Code is cutting exactly how you programmed it.Thinking something in your CAM set-up
If you can share a .bbcd file that could figure it quiclkly
It could be several things
I can guess and say are you sure your Top of Job is set right ?
If you don't feel like putting your file out there for the whole World to see,,you can PM me and we can go the E-Mail route
BTW,I Love Pro,,much better tool paths to choose,,,never been a Fan of Standard Z-Levels
Hi...tried resetting top of part and bottom...first cut as above went right but added same issue elsewhere.
will send PM...appreciate the thoughts and help.
Without looking at file ???????
Here is just a random drawing I did with just Z-Level Finish applied
Looks spot on
Here I on purpose made this to "appear" as though it is cutting wrong,HOWEVER,,it is cutting right,,,,what "I" did wrong was not set-up my "STOCK" correctly
File, and figure it out in short order
Thanks JRMach...I have sent you the file. It is a mesh body for the most part at least with multiple heights. I would understand if it was just at that top level but it adds the extra cut on every level.
I think they are not playing good together, the mesh and solid that is
Notice if you change the finish cutter to a flat EM,,different results
Yes...agreed it looks better on that aspect but will mean more sanding to complete.
Meanwhile I made it all a mesh and it does the same thing. Gonna try to play with the part top and bottom.
Giving up...every Finish Z-Axis path has an issue...moving to Planar finish. Thanks JRMach...
I have it figured, but i have not the time or the best ability to really convey "all" that is going on here
Maybe somebody with great video abilities can
would be great video tutorial for sure
u said you needed it by today,,,so we are too late,,if nothing else at a later date I will try and explain
lots of stuff kinda
OK...thanks much JRMach! It is clear to me now what is happening. For anyone following this thread...
The Z-Level Rough only drops down per instructions (.100") until it hits bottom and finishes. I does not cut at each level to clean up the flat spots . Those areas still have stock left depending on where they ended up in .100" rough pass drop downs.
Each of the top areas still has stock and Z-Level Finish does not look at the flats...just the edges. I need to run another path of Planar or something else to catch the tops at the exact level of the model. Hopefully the pic shows it clearly.
That makes sense now. Guess that is part of the problem self teaching yourself complicated software. I'd watch the video...link?
As an added note, the video was back from V23....
So dont really look for "method" in it, because the newer versions have several new and better ways to control stock and cuts.
Just look at the explanation of the Zlevel rough, and how it reads.... for understanding. Then apply it to the new system.
Computer and setup are in storage, so no video of various new techniques, for undetermined time....
Are you coming Mainland Burr ?
