    Question Skin Problems

I’m trying to get the 3D skin function to work and am having the following problem:

I can select the sections and paths just fine using the chain select function. When I try to select the sections paths in the skin dialog, I keep getting the error message that the “items selected do not form a continuous network”. I have even tried re-drawing the paths and sections using the “connect two entities” and “arc” functions to try to ensure that all the paths and sections are connected to no avail.

I’ve performed this operation many times and run into this problem on occasion. Usually re-drawing helps, but not this time. Any ideas?

    Audiosears,

If you send me the cad file I will have a look at it for you, it is a bit hard to tell from a description. I have never encountered that error before, so it is hard to put my finger on it.

    hi
i used to train in our country bobcad
the boundry that it is saying is not continues
meens that it will not close when you select paths and sections
it meens you have a gap somewhere around your profiles that make up the paths and sections? worst still you could have contours drawn on top of each other and you wont be able to see it, solution: pick contours using chain then blank refresh screen if there are any double they will remain on the screen
delete them, next make sure all paths and sections connect at
there intersections, next and ****IMPORTANT***when you pick
your paths and sections remember the bobcad rules pick path,
    pick direction,right mouse button complete
pick next path, direction, right mouse button then pick sections
you must start sections at the end you started your path
remember for skin in bobcad you need a min of 2 paths
and as many sections as you want or you could email file to me
but if you follow above procedure it should resolve your problem
    best regards
peter (this applies to bobcadver 17 ) which are you using?

    Audiosears,

I'm assuming you are using ver. 18. One thing I have noticed is that after you select your path, you have to make sure those path entities are not selected when you select your sections for the skin. This will cause the error you are getting. Also make sure you select path and sections in this kind of order.
