    Question 10x22 lathe stick out

    Anyone still around in here?
Got a question. Can I safely chuck up 2.00 x 10" .120 wall steel tube without a steady?
I'm only taking light cuts to clean it and install some bearings in each end.

So you're going to have nine inches or so of this tube sticking out, and work on the far end? Yes, you can do it - but not safely. This is why there are steady-rests.
