Default G0704 Motor Troubleshooting, replacement suggestions

Having issues with the motor, yah I know, the originals suck!!!
It stalls, at least to me, pretty easy, it popped the fuse, just seems like the motor isn't even working hard.

I checked the temp on the motor, it's at 100*F, that's about 30*f over ambient, or the table of the machine. That was when I was using a carbide 1.750" holesaw in 1.75"x.120" wall square tube. The Delta 1/2hp drill press will rip through that. Just seems if it was the motor, it would be getting pretty hot before popping the fuse??? Maybe the power supply is weak? Any advantage to swapping in a KBIC board in there???

Anyway, any fairly easy, fairly inexpensive alternatives???

    Thanks,
    CR

Well, investigated a little more, found one of the brushes making contact about 1/2 way? Does look like it had much use and probably wasn't broken in correctly, I got up to forward at 1000rpm, motor was warm, getting late.
Going to follow up today with some more break in, see if I can get that brush fully seated. I'm thinking if it's not, I'm not getting full current to the commutator...

Looks like the brush wasn't seated correctly, fully seating it should help. If it doesn't it's time for a replacement.
