What size table do you need?
Hey all,
New to the website. Hope everyone will ignore my ignorance on the subject of CNC machining and apologies in advance if it's the wrong sub-forum.
I'm looking forward to purchase my first CNC machine. There are some cheap Chinese CNCs on ebay, but I'm not sure if I would wanna risk buying from them. I initially thought about buying power saws for my work, but figured a CNC would be better and "safer" for the same price.
Type of work: Performing Square and angled cuts (up to 10mm thickness), deep long cuts (grooves), holes and engraving.
Budget: Max $3000
Materials: Plastics mostly. Occasionally I might use wood or aluminum. No hard metals.
Software: SolidWorks
Speed and accuracy are important, but speed is the first priority.
I don't have enough equipment to compliment, but if it matters I own a drill press and a plunge router.
Cheers.

4x4 should be fine.
$3000 isn't really enough to get a decent 4x4 machine. Even kits in that size will run $4000-$5000.
