Default Sangmutan / Kelinginc / Automation Tech 1100 Watt Motor Saga Question

    Hello.

Someone is on eBay selling these as new in the box 1100 watt motors with a manufacture date of Sept 2008. Apparently the Automation Tech guy or someone involved decided to finally dump their old inventory and make some money back on them via eBay or through someone else who used ebay. As it's the same motor/controller from the old threads here (or at least best I can tell).

Aside from the worry of the capacitors being ruined from a decade of not having voltage applied (at work we are required to reform VFD caps every six months on our spare parts), would the 1100 watt version be worth $200? I've read through many, many posts here, it seemed like the 2200 watt version was mentioned a lot. Were the original 1100 watts worthless too? If it won't provide the torque or takes forever to get up to speed, that's pretty much worthless. Anyway, I was just wondering if there were still some folks around who dealt with that saga and might have any advise.

Currently I'm using a 550 Watt Consew sewing machine motor, which does a great job. But controlling them via software is a bit more tricky and reversing them so far has proven out of reach. Thought the 1100 watt motor might have been a good deal, since the Chinese manufacturers are always copying and undercutting each other. Wasn't till I got it in that I realized it was a decade old, since the seller sold it under the pretense of the it being brand new in the box, they just didn't say the box was a decade old. Ebay and Paypal both agree with me and I can get my money back including shipping and return shipping. So trying to make the decision to put that 200 bucks towards a much better motor, or take a chance that this isn't a totally worthless motor.

Thanks for any input! And be warned if anyone runs across them on ebay, they are the version from 2008!!!

I have the 1100w version, for 200 I'd still avoid it. It works ok but I had to under drive it by 20% to minimize rpm changes, ramp rate is very slow. Save the $ for a VFD and be done with it.

Thanks! Appreciate the feedback. This is this stuff I wanted to know.
