    Default Cut-off Operation Mach 3

Is there a Cut-off Operation in the mach 3 wizards, or are you using the grooving wizards which has the ability to peck?

I'm having trouble even doing manual cut-off passes in 6061 on my machine. I've got both an indexable cut-off and adjustable blade type. Both around 3/32 nds wide. I find getting closer to the center of a 1inch peice things get hot and sometime gall up or just catch/stall/or fail completely.

What sort of feed rates do you use? And what type of tool? Just looking for some examples to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

    Thanks,
    Carl

I use both the HSS blade things and an insert parting tool. You need to make sure your tool is on center (or slightly high) and that it is perpendicular to the spindle.

I generally part off at 550RPM and 1.5IPM. I don't peck but you need coolant.
