awhile back I saw (here? Can't remember for sure) that somebody had come up with a nice little 3D printed thingamabob to add to the touch plate magnet. Basically, a "strain relief" type thing that allows you to handle (and remove) the magnet from the collet WITHOUT constantly bending and eventually damaging the wire attachment to it (yes, I need to repair mine again!).
Does anybody remember that or have a link to it? Just can't remember the details of how to do it or where to go to get it printed.
So I guess it was ME who was going to do a 3D print for that solution, and I just forgot.
So, here's my quick prototype. Basically, just a plastic "popsicle" stick with a hole in it. I will get a longer screw for the magnet that attaches the wire, and then will bolt the wire end on the top of the stick (I'm assuming that the conductivity will work through the bolt). Then to remove it you simply use the plastic stick portion, rather than grabbing by the wire or the magnet near the wire. Should make it much easier to remove.
The curve allows it to clear the sides of the touch plate when stored and attached to brass plate.
