got machine PM-25 cnc conversion moving
    switches

DO NOT FLIP SWITCHES UNDER POWER
    U will Blow the drive
    No Smoke 2 ?

    set step switches
    5,6,7,&8
    to--- off,off,on,on
    8th step
stepper motor 20 steps per revolution 1.8 DEG = 200 steps.
So that 1600 steps per rev

I thought the ball screws were in inches they are not
    they are metric

I MDI command X 7 inches machine moves to 6.889 measured
    Display shows 7.0000

    machine moved measured 175 mm=6.889
    stepper motor made 35 turns

SO to calculate of a metric screw
turns per inch for a metric ball screw
    7 inches =7*25.4=177.8 mm

    177.8/35=5.08
so 5.08 = number of turns of the ball screw to
    get inch inch of movement
hope this help some one ?

machine now moves the correct distance
    YES 7 inches
8th step plenty of Power no stall
    forgottoturnonspindlemotor

end mill pushed part out of vise ?

    still attempting to mill

    been using MDI

switch 4 set to off (off makes power reduction to on ?)
    123
    for X,Y on off on
    for Z on,off,off

motors have been on for over a hour and are cool, not even warm!
    and had Power to move

DO NOT FLIP SWITCHES UNDER POWER
    U will Blow the drive
    No Smoke 2 ?

    OK that all for now

Thanks for sharing. I'm starting a build to convert a Seig X2D to CNC. When I get to assembly I'll definitely be looking at the relevant formulas.
My original plan was to convert a little machine shop 3990 mill to cnc so I bought the cnc mechanics and electronics at the same time. My problem is that I like having a manual mill in the shop. I decided instead to buy the Seig for CNC.

I am interested in where you got the abs case? I've been looking and the closest I found is a metal cabinet used to make electrical connections. If I go that route I'll need to make sure to isolate everything from the case. I also like the aircraft connectors which would mean drilling fairly large holes in the metal case. The plastic case would eliminate those two problems.
