    Default Kelling Dip Switch Orientation???

    I have KL5056's and the DIP's are either 1, or 0.

The switches are labeled on or off.

My assumption was that 0=Off and 1=On

I had the stepper set for 10 steps per, as 1001 on off off on, but it was really slow no matter how I tuned it, I inverted the switch settings, ie 0=On 1=Off.
So I changed it to off on on off, purrs like a kitten!!!!

If have the current setting and 1/2 power set to the 0=Off and 1=On convention, should invert those also?

I just don't want to burn anything up....

    Do you have a 5056 or a 5056D?

The 10 microstep setting on the 5056 is on off off on, but the manual for the 5056D says 10 microstep is Off On On Off

    I did read the manual....

I have the plane ole 5056, not the 5056D.

I had the motors tuned for a G540 (long story) which is 10 step per, and when I set the dips as per the manual for 10 steps, off on on off, it runs slow as hell no matter how it's tuned, set the DIPS on off off on, and they run the same as with the G540.

So my guess is that they are inverted, just not sure if I should invert the current and idle DIPS also, prolly should....

I confirmed it, the switches are opposite of the documentation and silkscreen on the drivers.

The steps settings were a no brainer because after I set them opposite, they matched the G540 settings that Mach3 was tuned for and that's 10 steps per.

The Idle matched also, because when set to the book 1/2 power at idle switch 4 is 1 or on, and the motors got hot, set to off, or 0, motors were cool.

I also set the current to the opposite setting...

Just a heads up, if the steps don't seem right, try the opposite settings...

    I also have same drivers..
So are you telling me the driver itself is labeled wrong...
Cause I am having one bear of a time getting the steps per correct in Mach
Are the current setting wrong as well...if so how did you prove that..

I'm far from an expert, well I smoke tested enough equipment to be a smart ass, glad I could help...

I've had good luck with those guys, but you kinda have to know what you want... He swapped a G540 that blew up for free, didn't matter, they are all junk anyway...

    Enjoy...
