The only reason I use windows personally anymore is for Fusion. (awesome cad/cam for the price ) I have been looking for a laptop that I can pass the dedicated video to the virtual machine mainly because I got tired of dual booting. I finally found one that works quite well. (older 4th i7 msi GS60)

This allows me to pass the 'hot' video card to the VM so fusion runs decent... Laptops are more finicky... A workstation could be setup a lot easier - adding a video card just for the vm. This solution requires a windows 10 licence..

I am currently using debian stretch and qemu/virtmanager.

I got into linux because of linuxcnc and the rest is history. Very happy with it. very.

These are the directions I used initially for my laptop.
